RRB NTPC Graduate Typing Test (CBTST)

RRB NTPC Graduate Typing Test (CBTST): What You Need to Know
The Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) is the qualifying stage for RRB NTPC Graduate-level posts, after clearing CBT-2. Unlike SSC exams, RRB gives you a genuine choice of Hindi font, so there’s less room to accidentally prepare wrong, but the speed bar and no-correction rule still trip people up.
Speed Requirements
- English: 30 words per minute
- Hindi: 25 words per minute
- Minimum words to type: 300 (English) or 250 (Hindi)
- Test duration: 10 minutes (plus 1 minute practice and a short break beforehand)
Font Choice: Krutidev or Mangal, Your Pick
Here’s where RRB differs from SSC CHSL: if you opt for Hindi, you can use either Krutidev or Mangal font, whichever you’re already comfortable with. If you don’t actively choose a typing language, English becomes the default.
No Correction Tools Allowed
Unlike some SSC skill tests, RRB’s CBTST doesn’t permit editing tools or spell-check during the test. Type clean the first time, since backspace-based cleanup isn’t part of the scoring model the way it is elsewhere.
How Your Speed Is CalculatedSpeed = (Total words typed − (Mistakes × 10)) / Time
5% of your total words typed are forgiven as ignorable mistakes before this formula applies.
