Lesson 2 of 8
Lesson 2 adds four long vowel signs -- ா (aa), ீ (ii), ூ (uu), ை (ai) -- and three more native Tamil consonants -- ல (la), ன (na), வ (va) -- to Lesson 1's home-row set. Unlike Hindi/Bengali/Telugu, Tamil's InScript layout doesn't need a separate ba/ga/da/ja slot here, since Tamil's native consonant inventory doesn't distinguish voiced from voiceless stops the way Sanskrit-derived scripts do -- so this lesson deliberately adds the native consonants a Tamil typist genuinely reaches for next, not a forced parallel to the other languages.
With these seven new characters plus Lesson 1's set, you can type real everyday words: வா ("come"), கால் ("leg/foot"), பால் ("milk"), தலை ("head"), and வலி ("pain").
