Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the central recruiting body for a wide range of non-technical Group B and C posts across Indian government ministries and departments. Several SSC recruitment cycles -- including CHSL and the CGL Data Entry Speed Test -- include a qualifying typing or data-entry speed test as part of the selection process. Every SSC typing test this site covers is listed below, each with its own official rules, a Gross/Net/SSC-convention WPM breakdown, and free practice on exam-pattern passages. The typing/skill-test requirement actually varies by exam within SSC's own recruitment cycles: SSC CHSL's LDC/JSA test is a qualifying WPM test (35 WPM English or 30 WPM Hindi, 10 minutes), while SSC CGL's is a Data Entry Speed Test measured in key depressions rather than WPM (2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes). Both are qualifying only -- they don't add marks, but missing the minimum disqualifies an otherwise-successful candidate.
