This is Lesson 2 in our free Telugu typing tutor, built for beginners who have completed Lesson 1. In this lesson, you will learn the home row keys assigned to both middle fingers, one of the most-used finger pairs in Telugu typing.
What You’ll Learn in This Lesson
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to locate and type the home row keys for your left and right middle fingers without looking at the keyboard. This builds directly on the finger placement you learned in Lesson 1 and prepares you for full home row fluency in Lesson 3.
Home Row Keys for Both Middle Fingers
Place your left middle finger and right middle finger on their assigned home row keys. Keep your wrists relaxed and your fingers curved, resting lightly on the keys rather than pressing down.
- Left middle finger: rests on its home row key and reaches only to keys directly above and below it
- Right middle finger: mirrors this on the right side of the keyboard
- Return to the home row after every keystroke. This habit matters more than speed at this stage
Tip: if you find yourself glancing down at the keyboard, slow down. Accuracy first, speed later.
Practice Drill
Use the interactive typing box below to practice the middle finger keys. The drill will highlight each key in green on the on-screen keyboard and in pink on the practice line. A wrong keystroke will show an error message so you can correct it immediately.

Aim for accuracy above 95 percent before worrying about your words-per-minute score. Speed comes naturally once the finger movements feel automatic.
Common Mistakes at This Stage
- Looking at the keyboard instead of the screen: this slows down muscle memory formation
- Letting the middle fingers drift toward the index finger’s territory
- Pressing keys too hard, which tires the fingers and slows recovery to the home row
- Rushing through the drill instead of repeating it until the movement feels natural
Next Lesson
Once you’re comfortable with both middle fingers, move on to Lesson 3, where you’ll add the ring fingers to your home row typing.

Lesson 2 of 17
Lesson 2 introduces just 2 new keys on the home row, under the same finger on both hands: ్ (D), క (K). Deliberately narrow -- real muscle memory for a key comes from repetition right after learning it (each key drilled 6x in a row here), not from being buried among a dozen other new keys in the same lesson.
